Films on Demand Collection - Expanded

UNCC’s collection of streaming video provided Films on Demand has been significantly expanded for 2015.  In addition to increasing the number of titles in our Films on Demand Academic Collection, we have also started subscribing to two specialized video libraries dedicated to Nursing and World Cinema.

This collection provides over 21,000 thousand high quality streaming videos on business & economics, health & medicine, humanities & social sciences, and science & mathematics, as well as travel and fitness programming, home and how-to videos, indie films, and popular music performances. The videos include Oscar, Emmy and Peabody award winning documentaries plus interviews, instructional and vocational training videos, historical speeches and newsreels.

This carefully selected, expansive compilation of over 1300 full-length programs and short-form video clips addresses the multifaceted needs of tomorrow’s nurses. With the most comprehensive range of any nursing streaming video service available, this collection is designed not only to help nursing students excel in their studies and pass licensure exams, but also to prepare them for long-term job success in an increasingly complex health care system.  The collection covers subjects including Nursing Skills, Patient Care and Intervention, Diseases, Disorders, and Disabilities, and Nursing Foundations, to name a few. With more than 380 feature films from the most renowned directors across the globe, this unique collection includes the best of the silent era, groundbreaking international directors, American and European masterpieces from the mid-20th century, and award-winning contemporary films featured by Global Lens. The collection shines a light on the history of cinema while also providing a glimpse into the cultures and issues of countries around the world, making it useful beyond film studies departments by bringing value to programs in area studies, political science, history, world languages, and more.
